International WHEA competitions

Several countries are having WHEA sanctioned events and national qualification are in Canada, Finland, GB etc. The athletes, which are living in a country without WHEA national events may apply a spots to WHEA international competitions. (max 3 spots per class per country).

During 2023 WHEA is widening it´s competitions to online competitions also. The online events will be a qualification for the countries without nationals.

From the qualifications, 3-6 athletes per country gets the spot, depending on the size of the country. If the athlete with a spot is injured or otherwise not able to attend, the spot goes down to the next in the national qualifications. No wild cards, no invites to past champions. Direct qualification each year.

In weight classes the weight limit is exact weight or below = for example in -65kg class the weight must be 65.0 or lower. The weight-ins in National and International competitions are earliest of 4 hours before and latest of 2 hours before the competition starts (the time decided by the local organizer and it is informed at the competition info.

Age classes: Masters – you need to be the limit (for example 40) or older the day before the competition.

Junior – classes. The athlete must be 18 on the day before the competition and once turning 20yrs the athlete is in the open class.
